The Consolidationist Crisis of 7552-7552 was a multi-party conflict within the Auresian Empire fought between the supporters of the Imperial system and those who favored a more internationalist unity of common interests and public welfare. They were seen primarily as a referendum on the validity within the Imperium of the policies which had long guided and governed, and those forces that promulgated an establishment of more proletarian rule - the Bactranist Movement, which supported Collectivism.

The Imperium had been badly mauled by the five decades of devastation that were the Pan-Anarian War. Reconstruction was taking everything the country had, and there was no shortage of work to be done. Two special agencies for reconstruction and revitalization were organized (both of which have since been declared redundant and deactivated) and tens of thousands were being put to work to rebuild roads, bridges, homes and entire cities.

The Migrant Merchants Guild

Founded in the second decade of the PAW, the Migrant Merchants Guild - dolus vendolius profugus or Migratore Mercante Corporazione (MMC) - had been representing the groups of expatriates from other nations that had fled to the southern regions of Auresia to escape Hellish or Errean control. Overburdened with the daily demands of the war effort, the Dynast Emperor and his Council had little capacity to focus on the slowly but steadily mounting complaints that were being submitted against the MMG. Other among the guilds of the Imperium were protesting the interference the MMC was raising against their operations, and the MMC interrupting several guild gatherings to discuss war production needs and contracts in progress soured their efforts at goodwill with the very groups they wanted the support of.

Consolidationist Congress

Eventually, the Consolidationists were able to scrape together enough support to hold what they termed the "First Consolidation Congress", where several socialist organizations that had evaded Imperial security during the war met to discuss a plan for greater unity, further action and an increased presence. They discussed the "closed door system" that had dominated the Empire since its inception, and how the concept of "best and brightest" overshadowed those who were less fortunate and gave them no voice. Members of the various guilds attended the Congress, also, and were shouted down when they spoke in defense of the Realm.

The successful escape of several guild representatives who fled from the gathering would ultimately be what doomed the Consolidationist movement, as these envoys immediately went to the Imperial authorities with news of the gathering and its discussions. Emperor Emshandar ordered a full-scale investigation and turned the matter over to the Home Office. The Crisis ended after nearly 100 key supporters of the Consolidationist movement were identified, arrested, and imprisoned for sedition.

The Consolidationist Crisis broke the momentums that had been gained in Auresia during the Pan-Anarian War, and demonstrated the very low level of tolerance many Auresians had developed for outside ideas attempting to influence their way of life. In the eyes of most, Auresia and its imperial system had endured the PAW because of its strict but merit-based methods. A strong leadership shielded the nation from the worst changes of extremist thought while holding to a course that had benefited the Empire many times over history.
