Foreign Relations of Auresia

From GothaWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The foreign relations of the Auresian Empire are a set of views and objectives that have been molded by centuries of imperialist thought. The prime objectives of Imperial diplomats is to ensure a reasonably positive view of the Empire in foreign states through the exercise of economic and industrial cooperation and the preservation of traditional dignity in diplomacy.

The House of Alexandros exercises the traditional view that nations, like people, can be influenced with positive diplomacy more often than negative actions, though this does not denote an inherent weakness in Imperial policy. If and when necessary, the Empire will react militarily as needed. Coinciding with its general diplomatic efforts to maintain worldwide contacts and influence, the Empire subtly spreads its belief in free market economics and in honorable discourse and cooperation. These beliefs sometimes find fertile soil to root in, and sometimes do not, but the Empire is a nation built on business and trade.

The deeply rooted traditions of aristocracy and noblesse oblige are the prime motors of the style with which the Empire operates on the foreign relations stage. Appeasement is not a part of Auresian diplomacy, and the Empire is in no habit of apologizing for its system or its methods. Similarly, the Empire will not criticize the methods or traditions of other nations - openly, at least - and will likewise push away criticisms of their own method. While any influences toward its outlook are heard out with wary politeness, the Auresians manage their affairs in their manner and will rebuff critique of its style.

NOTE - Any ambassador listed who has the postnominal "DG" is a nuncio imperiale - Delegate General - and not a standard Ambassador Resident. Those will have the postnominal "AR".

Aedeland

Average Auresian - Different people, distant land. Their traditions are unusual to Auresians to some extent, but they still see a kindred relation in their practicality and proud adherence to long-established norms.

The Emperor's Thoughts - The Imperial Republic has evolved into a valuable and honored ally, though differences of cultural and political outlook will always remain. Those are insignificant.

Official Viewpoint - Aedeland is currently one of only three nations the Empire maintains diplomatic contact with via a nuncio imperiosus instead of a standard ambassador plenipotentiary.

The Bind

Average Auresian - Those Wolgos are an odd lot, with some strange customs. But they make for an interesting new market. It isn't a place many Auresians would visit without being on business, but their being at least amicable is good.

The Emperor's Thoughts - His Majesty does not discuss the Bind or its people with anyone outside of the Lords Paramount. As far as anyone knows, none of them are sharing. A nuncio imperiosus represents the Dynast Emperor personally to the Bind and its leadership, and in the event the Bind's emissary needs to speak with the Curia, they may reach out directly to either the chief of the Foreign Office or the First Minister.

Official Viewpoint - There is no denial that the Empire and the Bind have many points on which they do not see eye-to-eye. However, with ongoing regional issues, the two have made a cordial connection to facilitate some open trade and travel.

Halland

Average Auresian - Amalgamated nations all in one bigger nation. Halland is an unusual bunch, though there is some similarity in traditions.

The Emperor's Thoughts - His Majesty wearies of the apparent need of Halland to constantly challenge, oppose or resist Auresia when the Empire has no interest in doing the northern state harm. Commerce and trade are important, even to a Janessari, but if the Hallish insist on being as they are, then the Emperor has no issue with withholding CHAIM investment or maintaining certain quiet limitations.

Official Viewpoint - The Empire maintains a neutral stance towards its northern neighbor in spite of the near-constant opposition and confrontational manner with which the royalist state approaches it. Hallish emissaries are accorded no more or less courtesy and opportunity to speak with authorities during visits on business or otherwise than any other nation. Since the end of the Pan-Anarian War, no Hallish emissary has been admitted into the presence of the Imperial High Seat, instead having to speak to the Lords Paramount. There are whispered rumors that Hallish intransigence tests Imperial patience.

Helreich

Average Auresian - They were the ones who tore up Hattaria during the Pan-Anarian War. Haeverists are dangerous and shouldn't be trusted..

The Emperor's Thoughts - Considerable future potential is seen, but certain things may have to change, first. The MoIS maintains a careful monitor on them without being too invasive. The Emperor has yet to personally receive any emissary they send.

Official Viewpoint - The Empire views maintaining at least standard diplomatic courtesies as critical. While they may not accord any additional courtesy to Hellish officials beyond regular protocol, the government will not turn away their representatives.

Ithrien

Average Auresian - Ithrien is a land of mysterious, distant wonders and dangers. More well to do Auresians sometimes take holidays in the country. A limited student exchange program allows Ithrieni youth to study in Auresia.

Vittmark

Average Auresian -

The Emperor's Thoughts - The Emperor maintains a personal interest in the ongoing efforts to assist the nation in building and expanding its infrastructure and services. A nuncio imperiosus serves to link the Dynast Sovereign directly to the Queen and her court, while a formal ambassador maintains regular diplomatic connections.

Official Viewpoint - The stability and prosperity of Vittmark are central to Auresian policy in the region, as a stable and viable Vittmark serves as a buffer against Haeverist influences and also expands commercial opportunities.
