Biography

Both in the fifth year of the Pan-Anarian War, Father Feretti was the youngest of seven children born to Frederico and Antonella Feretti. His father and mother were both educated at Onesti College at the University of Gaaaze. His father was a chemist in Bellucente, and had been unable to serve in the Imperial Armed Forces due to a injury he had sustained as a boy that had rendered his left leg partially lame and forced him to walk with a cane. His mother was a nurse, and from 7499 until 7522, during the early decades of the PAW, worked at the Imperial Military Medical School in Bellucente, where she trained young women as military nurses.

After completion of his regular education, young Giovanni entered the seminary at Saverio in 7519. Upon completion of his studies in 7524 and his formal ordination as a prelate, he immediately signed up to serve as a chaplain in the Armed Forces. He would remain in this capacity until 7549, when he stepped down from active duty and was mustered out of the Army. Shortly after, he was named Archprelate of Altanavento, a post he would remain in until 7554, when he was elevated to the Consistory by Archcurate Alesandro Cappellari, who appointed him Curate of Dardania. Through the next six years, he wrote a testimonial paper entitled Tegmina Summa Omnia Vind, or Vind Supreme, Vind in All Things. This he arranged to have distributed as a means of comforting the faithful of the Empire as they worked to climb out of the destructive aftermath of the Pan-Anarian War. This publication would gain him considerable attention from his fellow Consistory members.

Feretti spent most of 7560 as personal counsel to Reverend Father Cappellari, who favored him to succeed as leader of the Congregations. The Archcurate made this wish clear in the final Consistory meeting he attended, on 4 February 7561. When he passed away two months and four days later, the Conclave of Succession called only two votes before Feretti was confirmed with 77% of the ballots.

Private Life

Father Feretti has never married and has no children. The last of his siblings, sister Loretta (who was third oldest of the seven), passed away in October of 7576 at the age of 82. Twice a year, typically in March and October, Father Feretti will spend two weeks at his private cottage on the Isle of Galinara. He also spends a week there every January as a personal guest of the Dynast Sovereign and his wife. A long time friend of the reigning Emperor's grandparents, he would join Emperor Emshandar III and Empress Aquiala at Veneziano once a week for tea and a game of cards. This tradition continues even today, and he visits the Dowager weekly. Similarly, he calls upon Cephorus himself regularly, offering his counsel and support whenever asked.
