Praxis Grand Cathedral.

Within the traditions of the United Lazarian Congregations of Auresia, a tradition that faithful seek to undertake at least once in their life is that of religious pilgrimage. It is an opportunity for them to celebrate their faith, see the home of its work and learn more of its history.

Background

Origin

Since the earliest days of the faith, Lazarian Orkanists have traveled to Cedelphia and visited Caelius Hill, one of the Five Hills near the city center, at the heart of the Five Hills District. It is an accomplishment that most hope to achieve at least once in their lives, and is a serious part of affirmation of their faith.

The tradition of pilgrimage was begun during the time of the Prophets, who returned every year just before Winterfest to pray and remember the days of their teachings. This is a practice that would be emulated by the faithful as the years went on.

Practice

The time of pilgrimage is traditionally during the week immediately prior to Winterfest. It will during these days that hundreds of faithful from all over the Empire, and even from its colonies, congregate in the square outside San Vincenzo's Basilica. The Archcurate will come out to greet the crowd, shake hands and fellowship, pray with those who ask counsel, and offer sermon to the gathered faithful.

Afterward, the Galleries of San Vincenzo are open to visitation and the faithful can see relics and treasures of the faith and its history, learn more about the Prophets or any of dozens of other central topics on Lazarian Orkanan. Likewise, they can see artwork from paintings to sculpture that glorifies Vind and tells important stories from the holy texts. The tour through the galleries has always been free.
